In-fo-may-shun

As a child, I wanted to be Tarzan when I grew up.  While the lion wrestling and tackling crocodiles seemed glamorous enough, more attractive was the freedom of wearing shorts and no shoes to work, and of course having a chimp for a best friend.

At about age 12 I got my first camera.  A Kodak Instamatic 110, and I must have taken a picture of every bicycle, car, bird, bug, and dog that ever walked within eyesight of our house.  I still love to take pictures and I'm never without my camera.  One of my favorite drawings was a picture of a Coca Cola, a burger, and fries done on scrap paper with a piece of charcoal from the fireplace.   While drawing has been at random over the years, I have only recently attempted to further my pursuit of traditional art and discovered the joy of digital art.  I have learned new techiniques, but it is painfully obvious that what is yet to learn is far greater than what I know.  Just about everything you see here was a learning process.

One thing I have learned that I would like to pass along; If you draw or paint or carve or whatever you do, do it yourself.  It may not be perfect, but it will be yours.  In viewing other galleries online I have seen many great things and also many things that were nice but obviously not done solely by the artist's own hand and eye.  There are various ways to cheat, such as light boxes for tracing and using grids for sizing, etc..  While the finsihed piece may very well "look like a photograph!", it's not the same as making your own art.  It's copying, simply put, and a bit unstatisfying when considering creativity to be valuable.

Prints and larger, higher resolution digital files are available.  Please feel free to contact me in regards to anything of interest you see here, as well as to request an original for commission.

Well, it's not everything, but it's a start.  As this web site grows, evolves, and gathers imagery I hope that you are not disappointed.  For now, thank you for reading and I hope you enjoy what you see.

Peace,
Ken
