The Captain and Jack
Two of my favorite characters from the Pirates of the Caribbean series. Captain Hector Barbossa, and Jack, the undead monkey.
Originally to be a departure from the tedious nature of semi-realistic portrait study, in that "ugly" is easier to draw than "pretty". Little did I realize it would become a nightmare of texture and detail. All the assorted fabrics, metals, and hair presented more challenge than I had anticipated. In the end, quite a helpful learning experience, and a pantload of fun to do.
It's done on 19x24" bristol vellum, in pencil, carbon pencil, and assorted charcoal.
The original or prints thereof can't be arranged due to copyrights of the characters being the property of Disney.
